Fund Raising

Table Top Sale in Weymouth

We raise money in a variety of different ways to fund research efforts into finding a cure for Parkinson’s and support local people who are affected by Parkinson’s.
We carry out street collections in Dorchester and also “shake our tins” at local supermarkets.
(vacant) has taken up the job of organising fund raising so keep watching the Meetings page. She is always looking for helpers so if you can spare an hour or two now and then, she’d love to hear from you.

Celebrations

If you are celebrating a wedding, special anniversary such as your 40th or 25th, or a birthday party, then why not ask guests, friends and family to make donations to Parkinson’s UK instead of giving presents. More and more people are choosing to support us in this way. To help make it easier, we have complimentary gift cards which can be sent out with invitations, or placed at the venue for guests to pick. If you wish to support us in this or other financial ways please contact our treasurer David Clegg.

Past Fundraising Events

Great Wall Marathon

In May 2012 James Harvey ran the Great Wall Marathon in China and managed to raise over £1000 for Parkinson's UK.

Sponsored Row

Patrick Tolfree successfully completed his sponsored row to raise money for Parkinson’s UK. He did so in a coxed four which covered the one mile and 550 yards of the course of the Regatta course at Henley on 10th June, the anniversary of the first Boat Race in 1829. The project was organised by the Boat Race Founders Society. His fellow crew members were from the rowing staff of Canford School, who for the past nine months have given Patrick weekly training sessions on the Stour near Wimbourne

A musical evening

And the music rolls on, A Friday night in the Weymouth Pavilion, saw a fantastic mix of young and old all enjoying a range of popular songs from the 60’s. Organised by our Secretary Trevor Martin and supported by local bands & young people from local schools, the event served to raise the profile of the local Parkinson’s group in Weymouth and Dorchester. In the relaxed atmosphere of the Ocean room the music rolled on.

Secret Gardens

Several of our members have unusual and interesting gardens which they occasionally open to members of the public. They usually charge a small fee for admission and also sell food and drink. You will find details of forthcoming garden openings advertised on the web site.
